Flashback Friday

Well, it is Flashback Friday again and I found a picture of Madie and Noah when they were 4 and 2. It was with pictures of me when I was pregnant with Olivia, so that should be about their right ages. Anyway, this was the first year after we had our yard redone. When we moved into our house, it was newly built, so there was no landscaping at all. In fact with had 16 spindly, old trees in our yard that had poison ivy and the patio slab had a big drop-off on one side that poor Madie fell off of a few times. It was a disaster. So one fall we had a tree service come and cut down all our trees. Then the next summer, we had a guy come and completely redo our yard. Levelled it out, brought in black dirt and we did some landscaping. The following year (the year of this picture) we planted our first garden. And, in that garden we planted a bunch of sunflowers. They were beautiful!!! Haven't gotten them to grow like that since. There were 10 giant sunflowers - taller than Pete even - and when the time came to cut them down, we saved all the heads and the kids helped us get out all the seeds. You can see they're wearing their little garden gloves and we filled up an entire large popcorn bowl with them. I wanted to find a picture that would remind me of summer and warm weather, since we're surrounded by snow and cold. And, I remember this afternoon being a really fun one for us. Weren't they cuties?!!! :-)
